Yoga and Mindfulness at BIS

The BIS Abu Dhabi yoga programme for health and wellbeing is continuing to run at BIS this year.

The classes are taught by Ms Deude, who is a certified yoga instructor. A "yoga and mindfulness introduction" is given to all Secondary students during form time, and as a CCA to Primary students.

What exactly is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is paying attention to what is happening in the present moment. It helps to calm down when we have difficult emotions, thoughts or feelings by observing them without emotional reactivity. It also helps to focus at school and to do better in sports. And because the mind requires as much exercise as the body, if not even more, mindfulness it is the secret to better performance to many athletes nowadays.

What benefits does yoga provide to younger people?
There are many physical and emotional benefits that children and teenagers can get by practicing yoga, including:
