Year of Zayed

This morning at school we held our Emirati Parents Open Forum. We discussed many ideas for the ongoing development of BIS Abu Dhabi and, as always, the partnership and positive communication between the parents and staff was evident. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all who attended.

As well as discussing the school, we also spent time this morning sharing ideas for the Year of Zayed and the part the students can play in this. In case anyone is not aware, 2018 marks 100 years since the birth of the late founding father of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The ‘Year of Zayed’ is a year for us all to honour his achievements and his influence, both within the UAE and internationally.

Within school we will be holding a number of activities and events throughout the year, many as a result of suggestions which came from this morning’s meeting. A lot of the activities will be educational for the students to understand more about Sheikh Zayed, and particularly learning from the values and principles he held. We will also be seeking ways in which the students can show their own charity and kindness in giving and in helping others within our community.

Should any other parents have ideas which they think might be beneficial to the students for the Year of Zayed, please do pass these on to any member of staff. Anything we can do in this special year can make a difference and help our students learn more about Sheikh Zayed and about his accomplishments.

As a final note, a reminder of other Parent Forums which are coming up. The dates are below – please do feel free to come along and discuss ways in which we can work together to make the school even better. Our school and our staff always value the suggestions and comments from our parent and student community.
