Last Thursday, 93 Year 7 students and 6 brave members of staff camped overnight on the school premises. A number of activities including raft building, Trebuchet, Archery, Team building and Abseiling took place on the school site and students participated in all activities, interacted with their peers and for a number of students, overcoming fears.
It was a fantastic opportunity for students to build positive group dynamics and collaborate with other students. It helped them to develop and improve skills in leadership, self-reliance, navigation and risk taking as well as preservation to achieve their goals. As head of Year 7, it was great for me to see new friendships being made and students challenging themselves both physically and mentally throughout the two days.
A special thanks must go to the Northstar staff as well as Mrs. Funnell, Mrs. Biddle, Miss. Griffiths, Mr. O Neill and Mr. Mohamud for making our students experience the best it can be.
