This week in Science, as part of our Materials topic, the students of 5C were challenged to investigate the properties of various materials.
We started by asking ourselves,‘Which material is best to use for food preparation?’ We then refined and developed a more scientific question,‘Which material is the most durable?’ This kind of challenge would usually result in a scratch test, but our students decided the only way ensure equal force would be to drop a set weight from a set distance. Making sure to keep all our variables the same, the students performed the test admirably. Unfortunately, Mrs Morgan’s plate cracked under pressure… literally. Sometimes you have to break a few plates in the name of good science.
