A warm welcome to all parents in our Early Years department. Having now had our first week with every class on full timetable in the foundation stage, I wanted to take this opportunity to say how proud I am of the way that children have settled into school from FS1 through to FS2.
Starting a school year and for our FS1 students, their first school year, can be an unsettling period for children and parents alike and it is down to the caring, calming and positive ethos of our Early Years practitioners that we have had such a smooth transition for all.
Our FS department is an exciting place to be in our school right now with lots of changes and new initiatives taking place. We have our wonderful new outdoor areas, which are truly amazing, in not only the learning opportunities that they can provide, but also in their appearance and instant appeal to children. I would definitely recommend taking a look if you have not done so already.
We are excited to be offering specialist music teaching for 1 hour per week and a new CCA programme on a Thursday afternoon for all children in FS. The CCAs are part of our whole school enrichment programme and the activities on offer have been carefully considered by our Foundation Stage team to meet the needs and abilities of our students. The children will be offered an interesting range of activities that will spark interest and will help develop personal qualities within the children such as, resilience, enquiry, cooperation and adaptability.
I look forward to working in partnership with you this year and hope to see many of you at our curriculum workshop on the 4th October. I wish you all an enjoyable weekend.
