Student Profile: Dale, Year 10

Our profile this week is Dale, a student in Year 10. Dale likes to run in his spare time and is currently playing the role of Jean Valjean in the school edition of Les Misérables:

Hello, my name is Dale. I am 14 years old and currently in Year 10. I was born in Cape Town, South Africa, but have lived in the UAE for ten years. We moved to the UAE based on the recommendation of my mother’s friend! We love the friendliness of the people in the UAE and the community spirit here!

In my spare time, I like to run, achieving first in recent competitions. I enjoy running because I like competition and it helps me release energy and stress!

I have always enjoyed music. I have taken part in BIS Got Talent, achieving second place with my ‘band-mates’! I enjoy playing the piano, playing drums and generally trying out new musical ideas. I have recently discovered my passion for singing and I am so proud to be currently playing the role of Jean Valjean in our production of Les Misérables! I was not expecting to get the role and was totally bewildered and overwhelmed with emotion. I have absolutely loved the whole experience.

My ultimate ambition is to be an astronomer! I am fascinated by space and all its beautiful wonders!

Although it sounds like a very simple sentiment, if I could have one wish, it would be to live a happy life: maybe not one as dramatic nor as traumatic as Jean Valjean’s.
