Staff Profile: Hadi Aboushanin

This year, we will continue to share staff profiles to get to know members of our school family a little better. Each week we will feature a member of staff across all areas of the school including teachers, admin staff, support staff and more. Our profile this week is Hadi Aboushanin, our Head Chef from the schools' catering provider ADNH Compass:

I was born in the beautiful mountains of Suwayda, Syria where I studied at Culinary college. In 2006, I decided to move to the UAE to further develop my culinary career. This started in Bur Dubai at an Arabic restaurant and was only the beginning of my exciting new journey. I have since been in the UAE for over 13 years, it has been wonderful, and I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing my experience and learning from my team.

My passion for delicious food and high-quality service continues to grow and I have learnt many new skills through working in 5-star hotels such as the Kempinski and the Dubai Marine Hotel.

In 2018, I was given the opportunity to join BIS Abu Dhabi, I was excited for a new chapter in my culinary career and I am pleased to say since joining in January I have had a wonderful experience here. I am delighted to represent ADNH Compass serving BIS Abu Dhabi staff and students.

Outside of work I live by the saying ‘You are only as good as your team’ and I enjoy taking part in regular exercise, especially swimming!

I want to share my knowledge and experience with others, developing their skills and teaching them new techniques so I am pleased to work with the incredibly focused team here at BIS Abu Dhabi.
