Service for Somalia

Earlier this month we shared a Weblog post about our Secondary students planning a variety of events to raise money for the Red Crescent to help with the current famine crisis in Somalia.

Niyakthi (Year 10B), Karima (10B), Solenn (10A), Shayaan (10B), Omar (10C), Jordyn (10B), Abby and Flaminia (7E) and the whole of 9D have provided an update about an event taking place next week:

On Thursday 25th May, secondary students are allowed to come to school wearing the colours blue and white symbolising peace & hope, we are asking students to make a minimium donation of 5AED which they will need to bring to school on this day.

We’ll also be hosting a bake sale (students are asked to bring in any homemade food items), bric n’ brac. Students are also asked to donate any clothes, toys, books or other items as long as it’s hygienic (these items can be taken to their form class), guessing candies in a jar and other games. These activities will take place in The Hub during breaktime, lunchtime and 1 hour after school (3-4pm) so that parents can also come visit our stalls.

Also, some teachers will be volunteering for the pie throwing activity which students can do for a donation.
