This week we are celebrating National Science Week, with Year 5, Year 6 and Secondary taking part.
The theme for this year’s Science Week is “Change”, encouraging young people to think about and investigate the changes happening in the world all around us; from seasons and climate, to materials and energy. It is also a chance to consider the changes they can enact to have a positive impact on the future.
There will be activities every form time in Secondary and Years 5&6, demonstrations led by Year 12 students every lunchtime, an inventor competition, quizzes, and of course science lesson activities.
Students have also been given the opportunity to ask their big questions, e.g where does the world end? These have been displayed along the Science corridor to allow students to ponder !!!
In conjunction with Abu Dhabi University, Year 12 IB students experienced a ‘hands on’ practical tutorial at the University. Our students worked alongside those of the university, to prove the theory of ‘Ohms Law’. They worked in groups to measure the voltage and current of parallel and series circuits, using a variety of different resistors to determine if they conformed to Ohms Law.
