Apples and pears. Ancient and modern. Hot and cold. Chalk and cheese. Often quoted opposites to which many might add Primary and Secondary, but not here at BIS Abu Dhabi.
This weekend we will be welcoming over 300 competitors from a number of regional schools for the BSME U11 Games. As one school, we will be hosting our visitors, supporting the teams, refereeing the matches, shepherding students, welcoming parents and supporting the event to make it the best event possible. Primary and Secondary students, and staff, working together seamlessly to make the 3 days of sport and recreation memorable for all concerned. I hope as many of you as possible will come along to support the occasion.
Only yesterday, the whole staff met to discuss our curriculum and how we can be more innovative and challenging in our approach. Again, there were no divisions. Staff collaborated together in mixed teams of Primary and Secondary staff, subject specialists and year tutors from FS1 to Year 13.
‘We are One School’ is apparent in many schools’ marketing and promotional literature, but with rarely any evidence to substantiate this big claim. Here at BIS Abu Dhabi, the collaborative and community atmosphere is evident for all to see and is one of the many aspects that makes coming to school every day such a pleasure.
Have a great week and join me in hoping for good weather this weekend!
