BIS Abu Dhabi are honoured to be welcoming teaching artist and Cellist from The Juilliard School, Andrea Lee, to the school next week.
During her two days at BIS Andrea will be working collaboratively with staff and students to share her knowledge through involvement in lessons, lesson observations, and staff professional development.
In addition, we are pleased to be able to give parents the opportunity to meet Andrea Lee as well, at an informal Juilliard Music coffee morning with Andrea and Ms Kate Rochell.
It will be a casual morning giving you the chance to ask any questions you might have, and to discuss the Juilliard-Nord Anglia Performing Arts Programme.

Time: 7:45am - 8:45am
Location: The Hub
Andrea Lee, who has been praised for her “elegant solo work” (New York Times) and “sublime” playing (Times Union), enjoys a busy freelance and teaching career in New York City.
She performs and tours regularly with such ensembles as The Knights, IRIS, East Coast Chamber Orchestra, yMusic, and A Far Cry. Andrea is the cellist of the indie-classical band Build, whose sound has been praised for its “genre-traversing mix of chamber-music decorum, rootsy twang and pop-fueled drive” by Time Out New York. Build has released two critically-acclaimed albums on the New Amsterdam label. She has participated in festivals in the U.S. and Europe, including Taos School of Music, Spoleto Festival USA, IMS Prussia Cove, Holland Music Sessions, and Banff. Her love for chamber music has led her to work closely with members of the Tokyo, Takacs, Guarneri, Borromeo, Cleveland, and Brentano Quartets, as well as collaborate in performance with members of the Borromeo, Jupiter, and Miami Quartets.
As a devoted teacher, Ms. Lee serves on the faculty of the Chamber Music Conference of the East at Bennington College and was a Teaching Artist with the New York Philharmonic Schools Program for several years. She brings her enthusiasm for music education to her new role as Music Curriculum Specialist for Juilliard Global Ventures. She holds a BA in history with distinction from Yale University, whereupon graduating, she received the Bach Society Prize and the T. Whitney Blake Memorial Prize. She went on to earn graduate degrees in cello performance from New England Conservatory and Mannes College.
