Message from Principal: Head of Secondary

Many of you will be aware that our present Head of Secondary, Mr Brian Irving, will be departing BIS Abu Dhabi at the end of this academic year. He has held the position of Head of Secondary in two different schools and will now be looking to take on a Principal role. We are extremely grateful to Mr Irving for everything he has done for the school and the tremendous strides made by the Secondary section during his time here. We have seen great achievements for our Secondary students in all areas over the past few years, most notably with the superb GCSE and IB results as well as the prestigious University places the students are obtaining. I am sure Mr Irving will also achieve equally impressive successes when leading his own school as a Principal.

Towards the end of last term we held interviews for Mr Irving’s replacement. We received applications from all over the world and the short-listed candidates were invited to Abu Dhabi to help us select the best person for the role. There was a rigourous two-day process in which the candidates demonstrated their work with students, as well as being interviewed by staff, by parents and by the students themselves.

I am delighted to announce that we have appointed Mr Chris Lowe to be our Head of Secondary from August 2019. It is a mark of the skills and experience that he brings, as well as the high standards within the school, that he was the outstanding candidate. Mr Lowe has been with BISAD for six years now and has helped lead the development of the school in a number of areas. His knowledge of the school and his ambitious approach for all students are perfectly suited to lead the school through its next stages of development.
