As our school community grows we will be sharing staff profiles to get to know members of our school family a little better. Each week we will feature a member of staff across all areas of the school including teachers, admin staff, support staff and more.
Our profile this week is Amjad Irshaid, teacher of Arabic to both students and parents. Below Amjad gives us a snapshot into his background and how he came to work at BIS:
I’m a qualified teacher holding a Bachelor Degree in Arabic Language and Literature from Palestine.
I worked in the Palestinian Ministry of Education for 5 years teaching Arabic language for native speakers in high school, and then moved to the UAE to teach in Alitihad National Private School teaching the Emirati curriculum.
I joined The British International School Abu Dhabi in 2014, to teach Arabic to Arabic native and non-native speaking students. I decided to join BIS Abu Dhabi because I knew that the school offers a good environment for teaching and learning with a deep understanding of the needs of the students and teachers.
Besides teaching our students in BIS Abu Dhabi, I also teach Arabic to parents every Monday for non-native speakers. I enjoy teaching Arabic to parents, and I hope to see more parents joining our classes at BIS Abu Dhabi.
I’m a social and open-minded person, and I like to have friends from all over the world. I enjoy reading and discovering new cultures.
