ADISSA leagues - Important Update

Dear Parents,

I am writing with information regarding our upcoming sports fixtures as part of the Abu Dhabi International School Sports Association (ADISSA).

ADISSA has grown significantly over the recent years in terms of member schools and the amount of fixtures for students to compete in. This growth has many benefits for the students, but it also creates some challenges in order to accommodate all the schools and the various fixtures. With an increase in fixtures, it has been difficult for some schools to book regulation compliant buses as many are unavailable as they are used for standard school collection services.

The schools are working together to find solutions, but in the meantime, the ADISSA league fixtures will unfortunately have to be suspended. Schools are also working with ADEK and the Department of Transport to find a long-term solution, and schools which do have the correct buses will continue to play inter-school fixtures on a friendly basis.

Our school already complies with all safety regulations and uses buses which are fully approved by the Department of Transport. We do however understand the difficulties faced by other schools which are not in this position and will support the suspension of the league fixtures until the issue is resolved.

BIS Abu Dhabi will continue to provide a full programme of activities at school and will arrange friendly fixtures against schools where the transport is not an issue. We will keep parents updated regarding all fixtures and any resolution that arises through the negotiation for all ADISSA schools with the relevant authorities.

Thank you for your patience whilst we support ADISSA in resolving the issues. If you have any questions about individual teams please direct these to the team coach or to our Director of Sport, Ryan Baker. Mr Baker’s e-mail address is

Yours sincerely,
