A message from the Head of Primary

Tolerance can be defined as “the ability or willingness to tolerate the existence of opinions or behaviour that one dislikes or disagrees with.” The children during the course of the coming month, through assemblies, will be developing their understanding of this theme which we hope you will support at home.

This theme supports the initiative being promoted by the UAE where religious leaders and politicians gathered last week in Abu Dhabi to promote tolerance and understanding. The Minister of State for Tolerance together with Dr Ahmed El Tayed, Grand Imam of Al Azhar and president of the UAE’s Muslim Council of Elders hosted a number of events at which Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury attended.

I was fortunate to represent our school at one of these events and we feel privileged to have been invited. Our own assemblies will promote tolerance not just this month, but throughout the year and your support in discussing this with your children is greatly appreciated.

I was delighted to meet so many of you at the recent parents afternoons and evenings and to have the opportunity to discuss with you how happy your children are and the progress they are making. Although information evenings are an ideal time to discuss your child’s personal and academic progress, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher at any point in the year should you wish to discuss or update them on anything.

From the Juilliard performances in recent days, animals visiting school, high quality examples of Year 6 writing, dress-up fairytale days in FS, Year 6 dance performances and the upcoming House events, our school really is a vibrant environment where learning takes many directions and smiles are a constant throughout.

I hope you have an enjoyable week.
