On Wednesday 5th October, Year 4 took part in an Explorers day in conjunction with their topic.
The teachers dressed up as different explorers so that the students could hot seat them and find out more about each person. The students moved around the different classrooms, experiencing a different activity in each. These activities were carefully planned in order to cover a range of curriculum skills as well as being linked to the ‘Explorer’ in each room and the field they were famous for.
The activities included such tasks as aboriginal art with ‘Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin’, planning a menu to feed a polar explorer with ‘Ranulph Fiennes’ and discovering ship wrecks with ‘Jacques Cousteau’. The students looked fantastic in their costumes, thoroughly enjoyed their activities and learning all about the explorer in charge.
