This is a very special week for our school and for the country. It is always a tremendous honour and a pleasure to be able to host National Day celebrations here at the British International School Abu Dhabi.
The UAE is a warm-hearted country which is always so welcoming to visitors, something that means such a lot for an international school such as ours. There are almost 80 nationalities amongst our families, and on this day all these nationalities come together to celebrate being a small part of the UAE, helping to contribute to the ongoing development and success of this country.
I will take this opportunity in advance to thank all the parents who have worked so hard to help put everything in place. Our wonderful PTA have overseen the management of so many of the activities for the day and, as always, have contributed their time and their efforts to create so many opportunities for our students and their families. We also have a number of our local parents who are also contributing to ensure another fabulous National Day event at BIS Abu Dhabi. Their knowledge and expertise is amazing and makes such a difference - our sincere thanks to them too for all their support.
In addition to the National Day celebration in the afternoon there are also assemblies throughout the day. Many of our Emirati students are leading these assemblies and performing in them to help all members of our community to learn more about the heritage and traditions of the country. I know many parents will be coming in to see the assembly and I am sure everyone will enjoy it. Our Arabic teachers have done a great job in helping prepare their performances and our students are very proud of being part of such an important occasion.
Please enjoy the day and all the activities which are on offer. We welcome all members of our community to come along to the event and to share with us the warmth and hospitality which is such a special part of living in the UAE.
