There was a formal yet lively atmosphere at the Secondary School End of Term Awards Ceremony today when well over 100 Awards were given out for a huge variety of exceptional achievement this term. Mrs Hook handed out medals to our three Champion Swimmers – Kurian Kuricheal, Omar Gaber and Ole Veenstra and of course other sporting achievements were applauded too including a special mention for our League Champions the Under 12’s Girls Netballers and the Under 14’s and 16’s Boys Footballers. Twelve students were awarded the brand new Service and Leadership Awards for their contribution to the school community and Mrs Usieto congratulated 21 students who had achieved international recognition in the Language Perfect Competition.
The Subject Awards for Effort and Attainment were as hotly contested as ever and a full list of the winners can be found below. Three students were awarded our prestigious Outstanding All Round Contribution Award – Tamsin Sangster in year 7, Jacob Kenning in year 10 and Nasser Al Jeaidi in year 9. All three, in very different ways, are outstanding role models for other students and are a credit to our school and to their families.
After a brief musical interlude in which Eduardo Gouveia Magno and Jong Ree Kim played their BIS Got Talent Key Stage 2 Winning song, it was time to reveal the winners of the Termly House Competition. Nearly 4,000 House Points have been awarded for excellence inside and outside the classroom this term but it was Oak who collected the most – 1,265 to be exact – and House Leaders Tamsin Sangster, Abdullah Al Qemzi and David Dukov collected the Shield on their House’s behalf.
Congratulations to all Award winners and we look forward to seeing you strive towards even greater things next term.
