PE: Life Saving and Personal Survival

As part of the PE options, students have taken part in Personal Survival. This looked at water safety and life guarding skills at the beach and at the swimming pool.

Over the last few weeks, students have focused on different aspects of lifesaving and personal survival. These range from learning the meanings of different types of safety flags, through to practising and performing different types of rescue: wading, throwing, reach and rescue. Their stamina has also been tested when having to swim lengths of the pool and tread water with their clothes on. During the course, students had to think about different real life scenarios they may encounter at a beach or pool and how they could react to these.

This is a very well-timed set of personal survival exercises as the summer holidays approach.
