Visitors to our school always comment on the happy and respectful atmosphere that permeates all levels of our special community. We have of course had an opportunity to showcase and celebrate our students and school with a number of high profile events this term: hosting the BSME U11 Games, the outstanding production of the Addams Family, which I know so many of you attended together with the Travel Roadshows, when we have opened up sections of the school to showcase the excellent learning that has been taking place.
Recently I had the opportunity to attend a symposium in Dubai tasked with shaping the Moral Education Agenda in the UAE. The initiative was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. The objectives of the program focus on four key themes:
- Building Character
Building character traits within students that foster resilience, perseverance, a strong work ethic, critical thinking and discipline. We should prepare them for adult life with skills such as financial literacy, mental and physical well-being and digital literacy.
- Instilling an Ethical Outlook
Teaching students the importance of ethics through values such as tolerance, respect, dignity and humility.
- Fostering Community
Encouraging students to become actively engaged members of their communities.
- Endearing Culture
Teaching students to value UAE culture and enabling them to value the richness of global cultures represented by the diversity of the UAE citizens.
We are fortunate that many of the above points are clearly evident in our community and as ever, we would be grateful if you could discuss these points with your children at home.
As we reach the end of another Term, we would like to thank you for your constant support and wish you a pleasant spring break.
