In an intense, compressed season, over 45 girls learned, participated and competed in volleyball.
Monday CCAs continued this term in a jam packed gym, with three age categories competing for space to play volleyball with the boys. This fun is continuing until Ramadan with mixed teams and light hearted teacher competition too!
Workshops enabled students who did not wish to compete in the representative teams to have a go at volleyball and develop their skills, whilst team players learned more intricate aspects of team play.
Though our girls volleyball programme is still in its infancy, our representative teams played brilliantly coming in the top half of the league in all three age categories.
32 girls bravely joined in the ADISSA tournaments.
U12 coming 3rd out of ten schools in the end of season ADISSA tournament.
U14 coming won the first two games in pool play but ended 5th after losing a crucial game putting them into the runners up competition.
U16 won their pool play competition, beating the eventual winners of the tournament.. The girls finished 5th overall.
Congratulations to Isodora, Ankitha and Ashwaty from the U16 teams who were all nominated for a Sports Award last week. All three girls demonstrated excellent volleyball skills, but more importantly leadership and a commitment to the team.
Isodora winning overall with her impressive steadfast serving aiding to stack up the points in tournaments and as co-game captain.
Honourable mentions go to:
Camilla and Charline in the U14 category-they attended all events, supported the U16s by joining as sub for their games and were exemplary team captains and motivators.
In U12 all girls played with dedication and passion. Bethany Leach also supported the U16 tournament and enhanced her knowledge of the sport by being our chief scorer in the tournament.
