Gaelic Football on the rise!

On top of the core sports we deliver here at BIS Abu Dhabi it is also great to see our students embark on new challenges and embrace new sports and activities. That is exactly what 4 of our students (Julie Aphanacieff, Molly Bennett, Louise Aphanacieff and Mitsuki Takikawa) have done. Their hard work and enthusiasm has paid off, enabling them to participate in the GAA Middle East games last Friday as members of Abu Dhabi Na Fianna Og and they had a lot of fun along the way.

This event was played at Zayed Sports City and included teams from all over the Middle East including Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Oman and Abu Dhabi. Julie and Molly both played in the U14 competition and came a very valiant second against the Dubai Celts, while Louise and Mitsuki played in the U10s and were also rewarded for a medal for their efforts!

Playing with Na Fianna is open to everyone. From hurling to Camogie and Ladies Gaelic football to Mens gaelic football and all ages. Information can be found on their Facebook site Abu Dhabi Na Fianna GAA club.

Miss Carey is also hoping to pilot a Gaelic football CCA here in BIS Abu Dhabi – so watch this space! gaelic girls 3 Gaelic girls GAELIC GIRSL 2
