Last month Mrs Lowe had the amazing opportunity of working at Juilliard Performing Arts, New York. She was part of a small group of Dance and Drama teachers from Nord Anglia whom were working with Juilliard specialists in creating and planning a curriculum to support the delivery of Dance and Drama at BIS Abu Dhabi. The relationship between Juilliard Dance and BIS Abu Dhabi has continued with the visit by Hilary Easton (Director of Global K – 12 Dance Programme at Juilliard).
During Hilary’s visit on Monday 31st October, she was able to observe and work with Year 5 boys who were working on a Dance based on the theme of ‘Football’, Year 6 boys who were creating movement material based on the ‘Parkour’ style, Year 6 girls who were developing their understanding of ‘Contact Choreography’ and Year 1 students who were exploring movement ideas related to the story ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance’.
There was a special choreography workshop lead by Hilary for Henni Tumelty (Year 11) and Isabella Engles (Year 10) who are working with Dance as part of their GCSE PE practical examinations. The whole day proved to be a huge success, with both staff and students feeling inspired by dance and the future of Dance at BIS Abu Dhabi.
