A message from the Head of Primary

Dear Parents,

I hope that you had an enjoyable holiday and wish you all a very Happy New Year. It has been a pleasure seeing the children return to school after the Winter break as they meet up with their friends again on the playground and likewise seeing parents reunited with other family friends. A special welcome to the new families who have joined us this week. I have no doubt that your children will settle into school life very quickly, make friends and make the most of everything our school and community have to offer.

As we start the new year, it is clearly evident that some of the children are finding it a little cold first thing on a morning judging by the array of school fleeces, coats and even blankets wrapped around them as they enter the playground on a morning. Their determination in defeating the elements in their desire to reach school is indeed admirable!

With this sudden drop in temperature comes the early morning foggy conditions which we have experienced recently. Please could I ask that you or your drivers exercise extreme caution when driving on the roads during times of poor visibility and significantly reduce your speed. The fog impedes many people’s perceptions of distance between vehicles and can be disorientating leading some drivers to make unexpected maneuvers. Please keep a sensible distance between yourselves and other vehicles on the roads. Travelling times may be increased during poor weather conditions but we would rather you arrive later to school than take unnecessary risks in poor conditions. A gentle reminder also that seat belts should be worn at all times no matter how short the journey is, as this simple preventative measure significantly reduces the risk of injury in the event of an accident.

The school car park is also a very busy place at the start and end of the day and your cooperation in driving slowly, following the direction of our security team who supervise the flow of traffic, and exercising a degree of patience ensures that everyone remains safe in our community.

We have another extremely busy term ahead filled with challenging and enjoyable learning activities, trips, performances and competitions. Our PTA are working hard in organising activities for students and families throughout the term so please make sure that you regularly check the website for upcoming events and our Facebook page which is an excellent way of keeping in touch with events happening throughout the school. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.

Wishing you all a healthy New Year filled with smiles, laughter and fun!
